00:00:37:19 Wow! Well, welcome back to Hot Topixxx,
00:00:39:06 I am Jim Dupree
00:00:40:11 and as we saw some pretty graphic footage there,
00:00:43:16 leads us into our very next topic,
00:00:45:24 dangerous animals in the home.
00:00:49:10 How do we keep our children safe from lions?
00:00:53:14 This is becoming the new norm, it has been shown that
00:00:56:02 upwards of 15% or 16% of American households
00:00:59:01 have thought about getting a lion and keeping
00:01:03:04 it in the family home,
00:01:05:05 kind of a disturbing trend.
00:01:07:25 Dominic, we will start with you.
00:01:09:25 Do you have pets?
00:01:11:11 I had fish, had goldfish.
00:01:15:07 And you killed them before they had an opportunity to kill you.
00:01:17:28 Well, it depends on your definition of kill.
00:01:21:07 One died because the tank was dirty
00:01:23:15 and I killed the other one
00:01:24:23 because I was sick of caring for it.
00:01:26:12 How did you kill it?
00:01:27:28 I wrapped it in paper towel and cut its head off.
00:01:32:18 I figured it was the most humane way to do it
00:01:34:19 because then there would be
00:01:35:21 You can make us a delicious sandwich
00:01:38:11 from its corpse and relish every bite.
00:01:40:21 I should have thought of that but no,
00:01:42:24 I was kind of revolted by the whole process.
00:01:45:16 But I mean.. aside from sort of just not caring for the tank or
00:01:51:16 to own animals anymore,
00:01:53:01 were you concerned for your own safety?
00:01:55:01 They were goldfish, so not really.
00:01:57:23 A goldfish could kill.
00:01:59:16 Yeah, but the concern really wasn't there
00:02:02:05 because I had it pretty much under control
00:02:04:24 by ignoring it completely.
00:02:06:28 Okay, Sophie.
00:02:08:08 You worried about animals killing you and your family?
00:02:11:17 I mean quite realistically,
00:02:14:07 how many months, is it months, days,
00:02:16:29 weeks, years, centuries
00:02:19:05 before your entire family is killed by animals?
00:02:21:21 I think it's mere moments.
00:02:24:03 Really, really.
00:02:24:26 It could happen any moment.
00:02:26:11 What animals do you currently have in your home?
00:02:27:21 I have a cat.
00:02:28:29 Yeah.
00:02:30:13 A lion, a sphynx.
00:02:32:15 Just a domestic cat.
00:02:34:05 So a sphinx then.
00:02:35:08 Well, she appears to be just a domestic cat,
00:02:40:01 but I think we all know
00:02:41:04 that she in fact... she knows a little too much
00:02:45:23 and I think inside of her small cat body,
00:02:50:03 there is some sort of feral cheetah or a lion or something
00:02:54:14 that is quite possibly about to rip off my face.
00:02:57:02 Is she one of the cats that can actually shoot her claws
00:03:00:07 directly into your eyes?
00:03:01:24 Yeah, yeah she is that kind.
00:03:03:09 She has a small cape.
00:03:04:23 Has she?
00:03:05:19 Yeah, well she comes close,
00:03:07:21 but I managed to create a barricade
00:03:11:17 with my washing machine, rolled it across the floor
00:03:15:04 and kept distance from her.
00:03:17:08 But she is the shooting nails cat that she...
00:03:21:19 A harrowing tale you just told us.
00:03:24:05 Yeah.
00:03:24:25 Professor Kuling,
00:03:26:03 I wonder if you knew that your neighbors
00:03:29:23 had a dangerous animal,
00:03:32:12 maybe not even having one in your own home
00:03:34:03 but just knowing that maybe next door
00:03:36:19 or upstairs in an apartment complex,
00:03:38:13 that there was a lion or in a downtown condo,
00:03:42:20 one of the larger snakes, the anacondas.
00:03:46:02 How would you feel about protecting your family?
00:03:49:12 I would be worried.
00:03:50:29 I don't entirely have a family myself,
00:03:53:00 but I would be worried for other families
00:03:54:28 and other people around.
00:03:55:28 I think it's a bit much to assume that.
00:03:57:24 I mean I am more concerned personally about my
00:03:59:26 insurance rates though.
00:04:01:12 If that's going to be happening in my apartment complex,
00:04:04:13 my rent is going to go up,
00:04:05:25 so is my insurance because
00:04:07:03 I could be eaten going into the elevator.
00:04:09:12 There could be jaws there waiting for me as I walk in.
00:04:12:16 Absolutely, unsuspecting.
00:04:13:28 Yes completely.
00:04:14:28 Now, I want to run another video clip,
00:04:16:19 I want to show you what can happen
00:04:18:13 when you keep what they call
00:04:20:27 a great white shark in your bathtub.
00:04:23:08 Do we have that footage, can we take a look at that?
00:04:28:03 So there it is right there, this is actually filmed
00:04:30:08 downtown Toronto in a condominium bathtub,
00:04:34:23 great white shark actually devouring its owner
00:04:39:23 and this is not slow down in anyway.
00:04:42:12 That's just incredibly precise shark.
00:04:45:21 Wow.
00:04:46:08 That's shocking.
00:04:47:13 So Dominic how do you feel knowing that that could be
00:04:50:10 right next door?
00:04:51:24 Well, that's a great bathtub.
00:04:53:14 That's a really, really nice bathtub.
00:04:55:24 Well that's a luxurious bathtub obviously.
00:04:57:18 I don't know, I think there would be room for a shark and
00:05:01:05 some bathers if you are careful and you are smart about it.
00:05:05:03 Don't people swim with sharks?
00:05:07:24 Or is that just in the business world?
00:05:09:18 Is that more of a business analogy?
00:05:11:13 I have heard that you are not supposed to swim with a shark if
00:05:15:08 if you have diarrhea,
00:05:17:00 that is what I have heard,
00:05:18:15 that's the common recommendation.
00:05:21:09 I want to quickly go across the panel and
00:05:23:12 get your thoughts on the best animal
00:05:26:14 to be killed by if you had to choose an animal.
00:05:29:24 Any animal, what would you pick?
00:05:33:05 Dominic I will start with you.
00:05:34:03 I think a puppy, yeah.
00:05:35:20 I mean regardless of what animal you pick it's going to hurt
00:05:37:28 but at least a puppy, you may get a cuddle out of it.
00:05:40:28 Right, right. Sophie, we go to you.
00:05:43:27 I would have to go with common gnat or gnat or some knort.
00:05:51:27 The gnat. Peter Kuling.
00:05:53:18 I am thinking something a bit more perhaps classic like a hawk
00:05:58:06 or an eagle that eats liver daily and comes down
00:06:02:06 and feed on me or something, perhaps one of those.
00:06:04:17 You want to know what animal I would choose?
00:06:05:11 What?
00:06:06:07 I would choose an extinct animal.
00:06:08:21 That way it could not kill me because it was extinct
00:06:11:08 that my friends is what they call a Catch 22.
00:06:15:07 Well, stick around because we have more hot topics
00:06:18:18 coming at you.
00:06:20:03 [Music]
00:06:34:08 Nor is there a way to determine whether the researchers
00:06:37:06 who concluded this are part of the group.
