This Tuesday I will ending an 8-month relationship.
Back in April I became addicted to a little show called "Dawson's Creek".

Every weekday morning at 9am my VCR has been set to TBS for what has become a daily routine for myself.
As Season 1 began back in April, I began to watch on simply a basis of nostalgia. I originally watched the first season when it first aired back in 1998 but quickly tuned out before the end of Season 1 and never watched it again. Due to the lack of talk about Dawson's Creek among friends and peers, I would venture to guess that many did the exact same thing and also gave up.

However, this time around I was going to give it a chance and remained a loyal viewer as Season 1 ended and continued to watch throughout the spring, summer and fall and suddenly I am at the end of the tunnel with Season 6 set to wrap up on Tuesday.

How is the show going to end? Despite my tempatations to read spoilers, I have completely avoided them for the series ending finale. Now unfortunately I am aware that one of the main characters dies in the last show (and yes, I do know which one). However, the real intrigue is HOW ARE THEY GOING TO DIE? Right now as a I write this, there are 4 episodes to go and there has been nothing that would point to a death coming at the end for this character. That tells me two things: It's going to be sudden and it's going to be impactful!

I have attempted to think logically about the death of this character. The character doesn't drive so that scenario is out the window (and would be a little bit of dare I say, overkill, as they already had Dawson's Dad Mitch die in a car accident in Season 5), maybe the character is hit by a car? To me that's too easy and brings back memories of Bobby Ewing for the cliffhanger of "Dallas" in 1985. This being said, the show in question is "Dawson's Creek" and logic never comes before cliches.

For those that never followed "The Creek", well chances are if the dialgoue doesn't cause you to kick in your TV, than you would probably enjoy it...up until Season 5 when they head off to college and Joey becomes a skank, Dawson is essentially written off the show but still incorporated into the series, Jack is forgotten and Jenn, well is just Jenn and it essentially became 4 islands of plot lines.

The series was created by Kevin Williamson, who essentially is the character of Dawson (which is scary that this character is based on a real life caricature). The overlying theme of the series was the classic "will they, won' they?" storyline concerning Dawson (James Van Der Beek) and Joey (Katie...or Kate Holmes). They probably got together and broke up 5 times over the course of the series and when they realized they had exhausted the story to death, they gave up on even linking the two characters in any scenes and blew it off in one episode in Season 6 where they get together, have sex, break up and never talk again.
In the final week when I realized my daily routine of coming home from work and watching "Dawson's Creek" will be over, I was largely indifferent. Then in one single episode they referenced both WWE and 90210 and for this, I will feel a bit empty come next Wednesday when I come home and there is no Paula Cole hollering out of my TV.

For those that feel the same desire that a young JOPO of 9-months ago felt, the series starts back with Season 1 on Wednesday morning...while I will be going through Wednesday Mourning!
