So are your lights on?

Well they must be if you're reading this. The most common things are usually those that we take for granted. Like common sense and common courtesy.

You see electricity is one of those things that most of us can't live without these days. Whether it comes from the mysterious socket in the wall or from a battery, we need it, we crave it, we rely on it to the umpteenth degree. It's not an addiction but a far greater dependence. I couldn't surf the net if I didn't have power. Hell, I couldn't even find the room where the computer was. Does anyone even think about all the items in our lives that run off the juice. Apart from the clothes on your back, which required electricity to make, we seem to be tied to it in almost every aspect of our lives. Try to go through your day from the time you wake up (count the alarm clock) and see how many things you use or come across that require electricity before you leave your front door. I bet you'll stop counting within the first few minutes.

People say that there are great breakthroughs in technology these days but I would have loved to see the look on people's faces when that first light bulb turned on and the days of taking a candle to the john ended.

People take the fact that the lights will come on when we want them too for granted all the time and I'm no different. Most people don't even know where they left their flashlight, if they have a flashlight, or if it has batteries in it, if they have batteries, or if they're charged. Maybe I'm writing this blog because the power just cut out on me and at least I remembered I had a flashlight but it was in the deepest and darkest part of the basement (brilliant).

This got me thinking about other things that blow my mind because I realized I really don't know that much about how things work in this ever evolving world. This, however, reminded me of a great web site which explains a variety of complex subjects in easy to read terms and is definitely worth a look. You'll get info on subjects from car engines to picking locks to ice cream to the witness protection program. And the name of the site that contains to the answers to most of your life long questions???

www.howstuffworks.com

I'll guarantee you'll waste hours and hours of your time on this site and then you'll be able to impress your friends with your new found knowledge.

That's it for me for this week. And remember. If you've got nothing important or impressive to say...write a blog.

Cyber Jock

Our take on the world, is funny and skewed we admit it. We talk about Jessica Simpson, nipple rings, politics, girls, hot girls, Britney Spears and all the rest of the wacky and weird.
