Bullfighting, an assassin on the verge of retirement, and a businessman in need of an edge. The Matador isn't new in theatres, but I felt like going to check it out anyway when I compared it to what IS currently out there.

It's supposed to be a comedy, but it wasn't that funny. The dramatic parts weren't that engaging. The action was just ok. All in all, it was mediocre.

I like Pierce Brosnan.

It's nice to see him play a non-Bond, down-and-out hero kind of roll. He plays pathetic quite well really. No complaints about his performance in this. It is a bit disgusting how he hits on school girls in this, but it goes with his dirty character. The more I think about it, the more I think he did a really good job as a self-pitying hit man who keeps having anxiety attacks. It's a far cry from his usual suave self so it's fun to see. I love his deadpan delivery.

Paired up as his co-star in this, is Greg Kinnear.

This role isn't much of a stretch from his usual so his performance doesn't stand out too much. He doesn't suck. He's got his emotional depth and a couple of good reactions but nothing to write home about.

Really, there isn't much to say about the Matador in general. I liked the comparison of a hitman to a matador: a good one can kill in one strike. There was enough suspense to keep me glued to my seat waiting for virtually the whole movie to find out the result of one moment that was alluded to in the first quarter of the film. The scene that they show in the trailers where Pierce Brosnan walks through the hotel lobby in his Speedo and black boots, chugging his beer was a memorable image that still makes me grin.

I didn't love this movie, but I didn't hate it either. It wasn't bad, just unexceptional. Maybe rent it if there's nothing better to do. It is better than a lot of the crap out there now.

I too saw this film and was dissappointed that they did not give a cameo to Tito Santana and the flying jalepino! ARIBA!

Our take on the world, is funny and skewed we admit it. We talk about Jessica Simpson, nipple rings, politics, girls, hot girls, Britney Spears and all the rest of the wacky and weird.
