KRYSTAL KLEAR: Everything at Once

Hello all you Bite blog readers!!

Well, as you might not know (since noone listens to Bite Radio anyways), I was a guest on this week's show and we talked about Canadian Music Week. By the time you read this blog, I've already gone to see the show on Wednesday March 1 at Lee's Palace to watch this band called Everything At Once.

I've actually talked about them before in one of my previous blogs back in November. For all of you who have just started reading, I enjoy watching live rock bands and I particularly enjoy this band, for the fact I have seen them live at a small venue (as a performer I understand how hard it is to get all pumped up for a small crowd) and they played for that small crowd like they were playing in front of a large crowd in a stadium (well, for the amount of moving space the five of them lacked on that stage to move around, I definately enjoyed their set)!

The band consists of Al Redmond (vocals), Carl Redmond (guitar & vocals), Stu Sissler (bass), Tim Lalonde (guitar & vocals), and Scott McCurdy (drums). They're all generally from Hamilton, Ontario but their music is anything but small-town. I believe that their band's name 'Everything At Once' explains their overall sound. You can't just name one band and say they sound like them- they're one of the more unique bands that I've heard.

If I personally were to compare them to a band I'd have to list about 30 to equal Everything At Once! If you'd like to check for yourself to see/hear what I mean, you can go to myspace.com/everythingatonce to listen to their tracks, watch their video for the single "Find My Own Place" and check their show dates on their page. For all you lazy people that wanna know their upcoming confirmed show dates without going to their site, I have taken the time to list them for you!

Thursday March 2- Bovine Sex Club in Toronto- 3am (Canadian Music Week After hours show) Thursday March 9- Big Buck's in St. Catherines- 8pm Sunday April 30- Port Mansion in Port Dallhousie - 8pm

This is one of the shots my friend Agata took last night at their show.

Their self-entitled debut album is in music stores across Canada, and is set for release in the U.S.A. this summer.

I have this CD and let me tell you- it's awesome! When I was in Kuwait back in November, I put it on loop in my suite because I enjoyed it so much!

Speaking of CDs, I had a photoshoot last week to be the cover model for a CD (as we also discussed on this week's episode of Bite Radio). This CD is going to be distributed in Germany.

Yeah I know- looks cheesey- but meh- something to do on a Wednesday morning.

We're not going to use this album cover though, for the fact that some say it looks like it's my CD. It was quite interesting because the pose is 80s, the music is 80s, yet we were trying as hard as we could not to actually make it look 80s (of course, I don't own a power-suit nor do I have the Jersey mallrat hair).

Thank Jesus for being born in '84! If I were a teenager in the 80s, I'd either be one of those Madonna worshippers or one of those chicks with the Jersey mallrat hair and those preppy outfits- but always equipped with blue eyeshadow, orange lipstick and purple blush- which was a common look, yet not anything attractive at all- especailly on my skintone...

Speaking of skintones, I really cannot wait for the summer when people tan outside, rather than in some coffin with lightbulbs in them. I'm pleased to see that we can watch the sun set at like 7:30pm nowadays, as opposed to 4:15pm, and that the weather is still extremely cold, yet the snow is melting as the birds chirp like crazy.

That reminds me of the movie "The Birds"... really creepy. I was too young to watch it when I first saw it- but to this day, I cannot get that vivid scene out of my head of that lady being chased into that phonebooth and attacked by all these vicious crows or whatever they were.

So back to the topic of music: What do you listen to? I am currently listening to Deftones, Everything At Once (their track "Shut Your Face" is my fave), Beyonce (I'm soo addicted to that "Check On It" song for some reason), Sade, Disturbed, In Flames (currently loving the songs "Take This Life" and "Dreamscape"), Mindless Self-Indulgence (gotta hear the song "Bitches"), Garbage (loved them in the 90s), Massive Attack (make-out songs; a.k.a. 'songs to get high to'), Fiest (that single she has out right now reminds me of a 70s song), Depeche Mode, Mariah Carey (that amazing vocal range), Nine Inch Nails, Portishead, Neverending White Lights (did you hear that song featuring Dallas Green?), Sepultura, Shadows Fall ("Deadworld"
doesn't sound so dead to me), Thornley (damn him- that "Beautiful" song he has on the CD I never got to hear him sing live!), Trapt (I heard that Everything at Once has opened for them), Stone Temple Pilots (Scott Weiland is amazing- he just needs to eat a sandwich or something), almost every band that sounds like Tool (which seems to be a popular trend these days), Tool (the originator of the trend), Soundgarden, Sneaker Pimps (before Kelli left the group), Slayer, Jimi Hendrix (oh, the great one!!), Live (old stuff anyways), etc... yeah I like to mix it up...

ANYWAYS, I hope that you all go to some Canadian Music Week shows! Hope to see ya there- if you do participate, tell me about it!!

SEE YA!!

Our take on the world, is funny and skewed we admit it. We talk about Jessica Simpson, nipple rings, politics, girls, hot girls, Britney Spears and all the rest of the wacky and weird.
