Say goodbye to TV as you know it.
OK....that may be a little premature but all signs point to TV being on the cusp of the first major change in its delivery since the advent of cable.
Ahh cable. When this service broke ground by changing our lives completely. This gave us access to tens of stations we'd be able to skip through for hours since no matter how many channels you have, there's never anything to watch. It also broke sociological barriers by revolutionized how you raised your kids. No longer did you have to actually look after your kids cause the TV did that for you.

It's very evident these days that the Internet is taking over our lives. I haven't VOIPed someone yet but I'm sure I will as soon as my friends and family figure out what it is and that I won't get convicted for doing it.
Now TV is starting to get more press for internet content and live streaming. The availability has been there for a while but this distribution channel wasn' t legitimized until iTunes started selling TV shows in the US. It appeared that people couldn't figure out how to use a DVD/Digital Video Recorder to get shows for free so Apple has been laughing all the way to the bank ever since.

CBS decided to stream March Madness live this year for free. The results are in and it appears that about 268,000 people no longer need to call in sick as they can now pretend to work and watch the games live on their computer on the boss' time. CBS set a new record by logging 4 million viewers during its first 4 days. Hell, they even put up an "In case of boss" button so that a fake spreadsheet would pop up when pressed. You just have to love how easy companies are making it for us to waste more and more time fixed to the boob tube. And now there's even youtube.
Eventually everything will run through your computer. This is a simple case of evolution. Right now the people who couldn't set the time (let alone program) their VCR are dying off. Soon the people who don't know the difference between a motherboard and a mother in law will be gone. And then the computer geek shall inherit the earth.
It's all a matter of convenience. We all want things our own way and maybe I don't want to wait until 9pm on Wednesday to watch LOST or I can't see it then.

Well now if I'm an American I can just download it whenever I want from iTunes. Eventually all TV content will be streamed via the net and choice and convenience will be king.
This is a revolution will not be televised. This revolution will not be televised. It will be streamed live via the net.
