Microsoft unveiled the Ultra Mobile PC at the CeBIT show in Germany.

Well kids. You heard it here first. You need to add yet another gadget to your belt (or bat belt, which is what it probably looks like right now) or pocket or purse or whatever. It's not enough to have a phone, PDA, Blackberry and ipod. You need to carry a computer with you at all times. Now if you have one of those ultra compact laptops you're going to feel like Kristy Alley at a ballerina audition cause the ultra mobile pc is going to revolutionize the way we look at computers. This will be the device to end all devices. I mean it's a PC and it's ultra mobile. Just look at the first adopters lining up.
What is it exactly. Well, it's essentially an underpowered laptop without a keyboard (or an oversized PDA) and it's about the size of a sheet of regular paper but somewhat thicker. Yup. That sounds like it'll fit perfectly into my man-purse, I mean European Carryall. Why or why do we need this novel piece of technology. Well, apparently everything else isn't selling fast enough and the marketing gurus out there seem to believe we may have some change left in our pockets or credit cards that aren't maxed out.
I for one don't care. I'm not buying anything else until they can come up with a device that does everything at once. Secondly, I don't think that a device this size should be called ultra mobile. How handy do you think this is to carry around. And how cool do you think you'd look.
Maybe someone has thought this through but then again I just can't see why you need a computer on you at all times. A PDA has enough to get you by for the most part and you can surf the web on your phone anyway, which is what most people have a computer for these days anyway.
I'm waiting for something useful. Something that will revolutionize my life. Not another fridge with a TV build into it cause I'm too lazy to make it to the couch.
