Last week U2 spent about a week in Toronto playing 4 sold out shows at the Air Canada Centre. Now maybe it's because I'm not, and never have been, a U2 fan but... does anyone else think that these guys are hugely over-exposed?

It took me a while to figure out exactly why I felt this way, (and it's not because I now have a co-host that gushes over them as a passerby on the street). There are a lot of bands out there that fall into the category of experiencing some serious overplay on the radio (see Green Day's American Idiot album), and though I may be tired of hearing a particular song, I'm not tired of the entire band... But with U2 it's different.
I think the problem is they're everywhere! They've been around so long, and matured and grown as a band so much they have various styles of music through the years that can fit on a variety of different radio formats. Whether it be CHR, Alternative Rock, Adult Contemporary, hell even Classic Rock formats play them now because they've been around for over 20 years. Kudos to the band for sticking around that long and changing their sound so dramatically but it makes them really hard to get away from.

Not to mention the fact that U2's music is complimented by Bono being the poster child for what seems like every possible human rights campaign in current existence and even popping up at Prime Minister Martin's inauguration ceremony... Seems a little much doesn't it?
Perhaps that's what puts me over the top, but all I'm saying is they're one of the few bands that I will go out of my way to change the channel if I hear any of their songs... Well, them and Nickelback... Chad & the boys make me wanna vomit in my own mouth!
